A 2013 Christmas Season Greeting: The True Christmas Message is Not the Cradle, but the Cross

As the song lyric reads about Christ:  "He left
the splendor of heaven, knowing his destiny;
was the lonely hill of Golgotha; there to lay
down his life for me."
Perhaps, one of these Christmas seasons this emeritus pastor will gather the necessary materials to build a front yard Christmas manger with an added distinguishing feature. If, ever this author arrives at that point of fulfilling this desire, I’m sure that there will be some raised eyebrows.

My conception of a nativity scene, includes a tall cross right behind the manger. I know that this would be unusual and even offensive to some people because the Scripture says that the cross of Christ is an offense. 1 Corinthians 1:18

The Cross of Christ stands in direct opposition to the (politically liberal) American "political correctness" and "multicultural values' mentality. As such, the Cross of Christ becomes an offensive symbol to any nation's secular, religion.

Culture and society and many professed Christians desire the comfy secular symbols of the Christmas holiday season, without the genuine acceptance of the one distinguishing symbol and sign of Christmas – that being, the Cross – the purpose for which Christ was born. John 18:37 ; John 12:23-50 ; especially -- John 12:31-32

The Gospel of Luke chronicles the angelic announcement to simple shepherds who welcomed the news of Christ’s birth with all seriousness and joy. The Gospel of John, does not relate the birth of Christ as does the Gospel of Luke [Luke 2:1-20] but relates the [pre-incarnate] existence of the same Christ, which took on human flesh and was born among us. John 1:1-18

John’s Gospel relates in imagery language, Christ, God’s human communication to human creation and that this divine revelation and presence became very personalized in the God-man, Christ. [John 1:1-18] It says of Christ:

“He came to His own [people and creation] and His own received Him not.” John 1:10-11

Some sinners feel that their
intelligence is insulted to believe
in the Christ of the Divine Revelation.
But, they have no problems
accepting the historical presence
of ancient historical personages
such as Socrates, Julius Caesar
and others. Their sinful pride exposes
their gross hypocrisy and disdain for
other past historical documentation.
If the arrival birth of Christ was [is] the world’s greatest event of human history – then, why is that reality (for the most part) not genuinely recognized, celebrated and truly lived?

As with all of history’s events and realities, it takes “faith” to believe what took place. Even after 200 plus years of American history, one must believe and exercise faith, for the historical reality -- the existence of the “father of our county,” General (and President), George Washington. None of us were there to witness his presence as the United States was being formed and framed.

As finite human beings we must come to realize, that there are all types of realities for which we cannot witness on the spot, as a laboratory scientist would, upon repeatable experimentations. We know that there are scientific realities, but at the same time, we accept, just as genuine, those peopled presences of the past and those events of the past, to be no less genuine as the test tube experiment. It’s called “history,” and historical documentation.

This same historical documentation is with the Christ of the historical (prophesied / fulfilled) Old Testament Hebrew and Christian Scriptures, -- those same Scriptures which many of us have come to accept as reality truths of the Christian message and the eternal import that it realized upon our lives and the souls of all of humanity.

Faith has to be personable for it to be practical

With the angelic announcement to the shepherds came the words:

“For unto you is born this day, in the city of David, a Savior, which is Christ the Lord!” Luke 2:11

The Shepherds had the choice as many people today, to ignore the message of the Savior. And, people today, in huge numbers exercise their free moral will, ignoring the reality that they are sinners, in desperate need of the Savior. In fact, these same people, who often spurn God’s message of the forgiveness of their sins, are the same group who turn cynical and ridicule those souls who have accepted the Savior, Christ and the forgiveness of sins, and the new life, which He offers. It is no wonder, why they do not possess genuine joy in their lives as they haplessly grope to old age and then to their pitiful godless end.

People who either ignore, spurn, or ridicule the Triune God’s message of Christ – His birth, life, suffering, death and resurrection from the dead, often will take what is in God’s Revelation gift, to humanity, the Scriptures, and pervert that very Good News which God utilizes to deliver and save their damnable souls. It is that very same good news which the Scriptures relate, which tell us that we are sinners headed for hell in desperate need of the Savior. It is through these very same Scriptures, as found in the Hebrew Old Testament and Christian New Testament, which God the Holy Spirit utilizes to create saving faith within one's priceless soul. Romans 1:16 ; Romans 10:17 ; 2 Timothy 3:14-17 ; Acts 8:26-39 ; 1 Peter 1:23

Their fatal rejection is of the Savior once born in Bethlehem, prophesied years before His birth. [Genesis 3:15 -- Isaiah 7:14 -- Isaiah 9:6-7 and Isaiah 53:1f] That same message and the non-reception of Christ the Savior, continues by unbelieving souls. 1 Corinthians 1:23 – 1 Corinthians 2:14 ; John 1:10-11

It takes a needy life and heart to receive the Savior born, in Bethlehem. It takes a person who is willing to make an honest appraisal of his (her) life of sin, apart from a holy and just God, to finally conclude that they deserve nothing but (eternal) punishment for their sins on earth, upon the gasp of their last breath. Knowing and being familiar with the Christmas story and living a half way’s decent life, does not qualify a sinful soul to be received into God’s holy heavenly graces. It takes a personal reception of the Savior Christ to effect present forgiveness of sins and a future heaven. John 1:12-13

But how does a person arrive at “faith” to believe what God has said and then place that faith in Christ, the Savior, from sin?

Friends, I could proclaim and write until I’m blue in the face – and others multiplied, do – but the knowledge and reception of the Savior Christ, must take place, individually within a needy soul’s life. [Luke 5:29-32 – Luke 15:1:1f ; Luke 23:39-43] As the Scripture says, faith believes that Creator God is, and that “….He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him.” Hebrews 11:6

The faith that delivers and saves your needy soul is not dependent upon societal status or financial success

The quest for faith in the Savior to save from the present ravages of sin and hell are oftentimes bogged down by a needy soul’s dependence upon popularity and financial status. When all is comfortable in your life, and everything appears to be going great, how much do you think about God, your sins (of present and past) and the punishable consequences of God’s eternal court proceedings? Luke 12:16-20 – Matthew 25:31-46 ; 2 Corinthians 5:10-11

Know this, you who are presently comfortable – those of you who have no or few physical problems; no financial debt and are, for all intents and purposes, (relatively) living “high on the hog.” Know that all these blessings of body health and temporal material, ultimately come, from Creator God. Know that it is He who yearns for your soul [Ezekiel 18:23] Know that, it is He who hates your sin. [Proverbs. 6:16-19] But know that it is He, who has made every provision for your soul, [Genesis 3:15 ; John 3:16-17] as your life will soon be tapped for divine judgment. Matthew 25:31-46 ; 2 Corinthians 5:10-11

Where your true life can be found

As this year closes, find your life’s true meaning and purpose in the baby born in Bethlehem. But don’t stop there at the infant manger-baby-Jesus scene, and jam your emotional and sentimental gears. Realize for a historical fact, the person of Christ’s sinless life and death on your behalf and his resurrection from the dead (which certifies his name, character and God-head). Know that for a fact, this same Christ who stood in temporal judgment by Pontius Pilate’s court, [John 18:33-38] will be the one, single reality, who will pass sentence on your future destiny. John 18:37 -- Matthew 25:31-46 ; 2 Corinthians 5:10-11

When you travel by a manger scene, think what that infant God / Man, Christ, grew to be. Place in your mind, that cross behind the manger displays and begin to think about the true meaning of Christmas. And then, (by God's Grace) as the timeless hymn lyric states, you will have begun your journey to the Savior Christ, as did the Shepherds of old:

How silently, how silently, the wondrous Gift is giv’n; So God imparts to human hearts the blessings of His heav’n; No ear may hear His coming, but in this world of sin; Where meek souls will receive Him still, the dear Christ enters in.

O holy child [Christ] of Bethlehem, descend to us, we pray; Cast out our sin and enter in, be born in us today. We hear the Christmas angels the great glad tidings tell: Oh, come to us, abide with us, Our Lord Immanuel!

Amen.

“A Father of the fatherless” - Psalm 68:5-6 - thechristianmessage.org/2011/06/

Excerpt:

Please note:

This following short topical (sermon) message only applies to Christians, as those who are believers, automatically possess the Triune God, as their Heavenly Father. Consequently, those who are "unregenerate" and, unbelieving, are "children of wrath" [Ephesians 2:1-10] As the Scripture says: ".....God is angry with the wicked every day." [Psalm 7:11] See also, Psalm 9:17. Please access the following message for further understanding:

This year (again), “Father’s Day” will be celebrated in US Christian churches. Preached from pulpits will be familiar and similar messages about the Scriptural and societal importance of fathers to their families. However, few sermon messages will [ever] focus on how the Triune God is father to those believing souls who never experienced any temporal (earthly) father’s physical presence and love, or to those whose fatherly presence and influence was abruptly cut short by either desertion, divorce or death..........Continued..................

Updated Topical Message: The Infanticide / Abortion Genocide US "President" Obama

The following Christian topical message has been updated with additional pics, captions and some minor editing:

The Infanticide / Abortion Genocide US "President" Obama - thechristianmessage.org/2012/02/

Excerpt:

How can it be honestly concluded that Barack Obama is a [genuine] Christian who has actively supported infanticide, - and who now, actively supports genocide?

There is no active evidence that Obama is a (genuine) Christian
Obama conned the majority of the Christian voting
electorate that he was a Christian. Yet, his "fruit
bearing record" testifies against him. He holds the
most powerful position on earth and his agenda
continues to rule in favor of death for the preborn
rather than life.

Christ taught His followers that they were to judge a good tree by its "fruit." A person's actions and life are to mirror Christ. Does anyone in his right mind think that Obama's actions, both personal and political, mirror Christ and the Gospel which He taught?

How can a president, who makes executive domestic and national policy decisions so contrary to the teachings of the Hebrew and Christian Scriptures, including Christ's Gospel teachings, even honestly claim to be one of Christ's disciples? Obama is no more Christian, than the man in the moon.

The following 2 subjects relating to Obama's actions, connect the dots of why he is "Christian" in name only...........Continued.................

Pastor Chuck Baldwin calls out Christian pastors for their silence and cowardice

Pic of Pastor Chuck Baldwin. He was the presidential
nominee for the Constitution Party in 2008.
Presently, he is host of "Chuck Baldwin Live."

Pastor Chuck Baldwin's Facebook comment (4/21/13):

<<<<<<< A reader recently accused me of "bashing" my fellow pastors and said that what I am writing sounds "hateful."

I realize that not everyone who reads my columns and posts is truly familiar with me. I have been in the Gospel ministry my entire adult life. If one includes my ministerial training days, that means for over four decades. I am not an outsider; I am not a novice. I've been around pastors all of my life. I know how they think, what they read, how they spend their "off" days, and what makes them tick.

I believe I am more than qualified to address the "pastor problem" that we have today. I know that there are many great patriot-pastors out there; but I also know that overall, they are far and few between. The vast majority of today's pastors are unwilling to even look at the responsibility they have to resist evil government. They are as guilty as the pastors in Germany who did nothing to resist, or who even helped facilitate, Hitler's rise to power. And I will NOT give them a pass!

Pastors are God's watchmen and the nation's spiritual shepherds. If they choose to ignore their responsibility to warn the people of the attacking wolves that are devouring our liberties, they are the enemies of freedom AND SHOULD BE IDENTIFIED AS SUCH. At the same time, I am trying to educate and inspire Christian men and women in the pews to stop assisting these spineless pastors. If the pulpit will not lead, the pew must! Nothing I say is motivated by hate; everything I say is motivated by LOVE--especially MY LOVE FOR LIBERTY! >>>>>>>> - chuckbaldwinlive.com/

He is Risen!

Christ’s Resurrection From the Dead -- The Christian believer’s certification of the truth and assurance of eternal life, as opposed to that of eternal death

1 Corinthians 15:1f lays out the rationale for the
historical fact of Christ. This chapter of the
Scriptures illustrates how the resurrection of
Christ is the foundational basis for the Christian
Faith. And, all this is based upon the historical
God-authored divine revelation as found in the
 Hebrew and Christian Scriptures.
“……For this cause I was born, and for this cause I have come into the world, that I should bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice.” John 18:37

“…..I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die…” John 11:25-2

“….Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures… 1 Corinthians 15:3-4

Upgraded topical message: Rejecting the Resurrection Reality

The Christian Message has upgraded the following message with additional pics, captions, internal links and minor editing:

Rejecting the Resurrection Reality

Excerpt:

Easter morning, a couple of years ago, I posted on the local online forum 3 words – “He is risen!” My father taught me this declaration every Easter morning. He would declare: “He is risen!” And then he would expect the following reply: “He is risen, indeed!” Such was the declaration and response of the early Christians every year commemorating the death and resurrection of the Christ of history.

One forum personality responded, like the early Christian response. However, there was another response that stated, “Where?” His, was a declaration of unbelief, basically saying [Paraphrase]: “I don’t see anything.” I then posted the following reply: ............. Continued:

Topical message upgrade: Human (Unregenerate) Nature is No Surprise

"The Christian Message" has updated the following topical message with additional pics, captions, internal links and minor editing:

Human (Unregenerate) Nature is No Surprise - thechristianmessage.org/2011/07/

Excerpt:

<<<<<<<< The just and eternal end of those who reject the Lord (Creator) of Life

It's God's will that all souls be
eternally saved and to come "to
the knowledge of the truth."
1 Timothy 2:4. But humans act

upon their God-given free will and
resist Him in unbelief to their
 soul's eternal damnation.
Those who acknowledge and live their lives in accordance with their Creator Christ have nothing to fear in this life and the life (everlasting) to come. They will have put their faith in His ultimate sacrifice of [holy] sin cleansing blood for their human sin (s).

However, those of you who continue to resist the truth of God, as revealed in the Hebrew and Christian Scriptures and refuse to accept the free gift of forgiveness in Christ’s cleansing sacrifice for personal sin, -- you will, by your same Creator be held eternally and damnably accountable. There will not be life, everlasting, but rather, death, everlasting. for you. John 3:14-21 ; Acts 17:31 ; Matthew 25:31-46

Those of you who reject Christ and His offered forgiveness for your damning sins, your future life after physical death will be a real life of continual suffering and torment of death, everlasting. The same Creator who created you and who offers you life, will judge you for your unregenerate condition at the time of your death. Upgraded topical message: The Unregenerate

The unregenerate soul lives in a riled state.
1 Corinthians 2:14 describes that soul's pathetic
condition which is incapable of grasping spiritual
realities. Unless God's Holy spirit breaks forth with
spiritual realities upon that individual soul, that
unregenerate soul will be forever darkened.

Excerpt:

Short definition of “unregenerate:”

Not regenerated; not renewed in heart; remaining at enmity with God. Those who do not acknowledge the Triune God and have not experienced His saving power and grace upon their sinful lives. Those who live their lives in unbelief – not believing in the very Christ who died for their priceless souls.

The word, “unregenerate” won’t be found in the Old Testament Hebrew and Christian Scriptures. Nor will the word “Triune” [God] be found either. But, they are words of weighty significance which.................. Continued..........

Upgraded topical message: Why Divine Revelation (Scripture) condemns homosexuality. Why homosexual activists become so upset when their lifestyle is called into question

Gay activists aren't satisfied with only being
sexually intimate with the particular members
of their own gender. They set themselves upon
an agenda path to molest traditional marriage,
thereby diluting it to include something that
never was intended by God.

A couple of weeks ago there was an mlive.com news report about an (obvious) homosexual activist. The news piece went on to highlight this man’s near future conference speaking engagement.

The young man of whom the news piece related, was scheduled to speak about the recent Kalamazoo anti-discrimination ordinance last year and “his spiritual journey.” He was highlighted to be the keynote speaker for “Out of the Closet, Into the Light.” The gathering, according mlive.com, was designed to be a “conference on ‘sexuality, inclusion and spirituality.’” The event was planned by “the OutCenter, of Benton Harbor, which provides support and advocacy for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and allied persons in Berrien County.” >>>>>>> - thechristianmessage.org

Christ dying for the sins of the world is different than a faith that justifies one before God

Note:
When Christ comes to claim His own
and to judge the living and the dead,
The Bible doesn't say: " .... will He
find acknowledgement of His
atonement redemption?"  No. It

 (rather) says:"...shall he find faith
on the earth?" Luke 18:8

Gospel of John Question:

Did Christ wipe the sinful slate clean for every person; or, did He bear the sins of the world upon the Cross?

Scripture: John 1:29-34

<<<<<< The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!  This is He of whom I said, ‘After me comes a Man who is preferred before me, for He was before me.’ I did not know Him; but that He should be revealed to Israel, therefore I came baptizing with water.”

And John bore witness, saying, “I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and He remained upon Him. I did not know Him, but He who sent me to baptize with water said to me, ‘Upon whom you see the Spirit descending, and remaining on Him, this is He who baptizes with the Holy Spirit.’ And I have seen and testified that this is the Son of God.” >>>>>> [NKJV]

Answer:

The Bible says that the Christian "walks by faith" and not "by sight." [2 Corinthians 5:7] The Christian's vital breath is faith; it is not looking back (continually reminiscing) over some fixed point in history in which Christ died and bore the sins of the whole world. John 1:29 ; Isaiah 53:1f

The Bible says that the Christian is to look to Jesus the "author and finisher" ("pioneer and perfecter" - RSV) of one's faith. Hebrews 12:2 ; Hebrews 5:9. Disciples of Christ are to fixate (focus - consider attentively) upon Christ, the captain of their faith. Philippians 3:7;8;9

The Scripture never says that by grace through
the mental assent (acknowledgment) of Christ
dying for the world's sins, that a person is made
right with God. No!  It rather says: "For by grace
are ye saved through faith; and that not of
yourselves: it is a gift of  God; not of works,
lest anyone should boast." Ephesians 2:8;9

Yesterday I was on the road for a considerable distance. The only thing that seemed to come in clearly on my auto's radio, was a popular Christian radio station. I was amazed how many songs dealt with the re-occurring theme that Christians were God's redeemed and that they were His children. Now, that is not an untruth; except that these songs never once mentioned "faith." When I was thinking of this, I asked myself:  "What a poor witness to those unbelievers who are listening to this music and its lyrics! It gives the incorrect message that all one has to do, is appreciate God's love for giving His all." That is (somewhat) like our present White House occupier (unconstitutional "president") saying:  "I believe in the 2nd Amendment (the personal right to bear firearms)." The Bible also says that devils give assent (acknowledgement) to God's person - but, don't genuinely believe in Him. James 2:19

Believing in a fixed point in history isn't the same as actually believing in Christ. Believing that Christ died for the sins of the whole world does not justify one's own soul. Believing in an event that made provision for every soul's sins to be forgiven; does not translate into
a person actually possessing the personal forgiveness of his sins. The Scripture no where states that believing (deciding for oneself) that Christ's atonement for human sin, forgives a person's sins.

The crucifiction event of God dying for the sins of the whole world and an individual believing in that event, does not take the place of the Holy Spirit's working of cleansing and sanctifying that individual's soul. Following (contained in the topical message link below) are Luther's words in explanation to the Holy Spirit's work.

Please note:

Part 2: How does the false teaching of universal objective justification molest Christians’ faith? - thechristianmessage.org/2012/09/

The divine revelation states that faith in the
individual soul is a gift of God. It cannot be
drummed up on one's own. The Bible also states
that this individual faith comes through the
instrument (by way of) of God's divine revelation:
Romans 1:16 ; Romans 10:17 ; 2 Timothy 3:14-17 ;
Acts 8:26-29 ; 1 Peter 1:23 ; James 1:18
In short, believing in the visible historical presence of a cookie jar on Grandma's kitchen counter, does not automatically translate into cookies occupying that cookie jar. The Bible says that "....but without faith it is impossible to please him [God]....." Hebrews 11:6. It also states:

"For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it." Hebrews 4:2

".....Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness. Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham. And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed. So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham. For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them. But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith. And the law is not of faith: but, The man that doeth them shall live in them......" Galatians 3:6-12

Finally, does the Scripture say:  "Examine yourselves whether you acknowledge Christ's atonement suffering and death?" No! Rather, the Scripture says:

Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates? 2 Corinthians 13:5
